stallion owner prefer to “haul in” to have their stallions
collected, prepared and shipped cool.
We also accept stallions during the “off” season for
semen freezing, testing and evaluation. The semen will be

MARE REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES:
Our mares are on a regular teasing schedule to help
determine when they are cycling and ready to breed. Mares
are examined by rectal palpation and ultrasound as
frequently as deemed necessary based on the method of
breeding (i.e. fresh semen, cooled semen, frozen semen).
Once the mares are in heat, they are examined every other
day to predict the best day to inseminate and determine the
ovulation date. Routine hormone treatments (prostaglandin,
hCG and/or deslorelin) are administered as necessary to
bring mares into heat as well as to promote ovulation.
Uterine treatments (culture, antibiotic therapy, and uterine
lavage) are performed when determined necessary by Dr
Longworth. After breeding, mares are examined for pregnancy
at 14, 28 and 45 days after ovulation. |
